Pourwise (Dayzle)
Rate itMeasure the day's exact amount with unmarked jugs, pouring in as few moves as par.
Every day: One water jug puzzle a day, the same for every player: a set of unmarked jugs of given sizes, the water they start with, a goal amount and a par. Three jugs Monday to Thursday and four from Friday; the goal moves from any jug to a named jug to an exact split, and the tap and sink disappear later in the week. New puzzle: Midnight, local time.

Pourwise is a daily water jug puzzle on Dayzle. The jugs have no markings, so a pour only stops when one jug is empty or the other is full; you pour between them to measure the day's amount in as few moves as you can.
About Pourwise (Dayzle)
Pourwise is one of the eighteen daily games on Dayzle, a site of original puzzles from TLL Studios in Valencia. Every day at local midnight it sets one jug puzzle, the same for everyone.
The board shows a row of jugs, each with its letter and size in litres at the base and the water it holds as a number above it. Tap a jug to lift it and tap another to pour into it, or drag one onto another. Since the jugs have no markings, a pour runs until the first jug is empty or the second is full, so the only exact amounts are empty, full and whatever is left after a pour.
The goal changes through the week. On Monday and Wednesday any jug holding the amount wins; on Tuesday and Friday it has to be one named jug; from Thursday to Sunday every jug must hold its own amount at once. Some days give a tap that fills the lifted jug and a sink that empties it, each use costing a move; Thursday and the weekend have neither, so you can only move the water you start with.
A big counter shows your moves against par, the fewest possible. Match par for three stars, go one or two over for two, more for one. Undo and Start over are free, and a move that would change nothing is refused and not counted. Past editions stay open for practice and never count.
The shared result shows your stars, moves, par, the jugs and the goal, never how you solved it.
How to play Pourwise (Dayzle)
- Read the goal at the top of today's Pourwise, such as 5 L in any jug, and the par beside the move counter.
- Tap a jug to lift it, then tap another jug to pour into it; the pour stops when one is empty or the other is full.
- Use the tap or the sink if the day has them; each use counts as one move.
- When the goal is met the jugs glow; at par the puzzle ends by itself, otherwise press Finish or undo and try again.

Tips
- Make differences: pouring a full jug into a smaller one leaves exactly the difference behind, such as 8 minus 5 leaving 3.
- Think backwards from the goal: to leave 4 in a 5 L jug you need it full with room for exactly 1 in another jug.
- If you are going round in circles, try pouring the other way; undo and Start over cost nothing.
- On days without a tap or sink the total water never changes, so check the split adds up before you start.
Questions
When does the Pourwise puzzle change?
At midnight in your own time zone, with the same jugs and goal for everyone.
Do refused or undone moves count?
No. A pour that would change nothing is refused, and only the moves in your final solution count against par.
Which day is hardest?
Sunday: four jugs, an exact split, no tap or sink and the highest par. Monday is the gentlest.
Is Pourwise free?
Yes. It runs in the browser with no account, and past editions can be played for practice.
