PlaneQ is FlightQ's daily aircraft guessing game. Each day there is one mystery airliner family in a Current mode and another in a Historic mode; you pick clues, either an airline that operates it or a fact about the aircraft, and have five attempts to name the manufacturer and model.

About PlaneQ

PlaneQ is one of the daily aviation games on FlightQ. Two puzzles go live each day. Current uses dated published fleet counts for aircraft flying today, with airlines listed fewest first. Historic covers classic airliners such as Concorde, the DC-10, the L-1011 and the 747 Classic, with operators past and present including Pan Am and TWA. Each mode keeps its own streak.

You build your own clues. For each of five slots you choose either an airline that flies the type or an aircraft fact: cabin layout, engines, wing position, first airline service or a passenger-capacity example. Your first clue and the clue after a wrong guess are free; extra clues use one of your five attempts, and the last attempt is always a guess. A wrong guess tells you whether you had the right manufacturer, and the maker then locks in.

Variants are grouped, so every A321 is just Airbus A321 and every 737 from the -800 to the MAX is Boeing 737. Every daily puzzle is free with no account; FlightQ Premium adds practice, stats and no ads.

It suits aviation fans who know which airlines fly what, and pairs with FlightQ's SkyQ, where you guess a flight route instead.

How to play PlaneQ

  1. Open PlaneQ and choose the Current or Historic puzzle.
  2. Pick your first clue: an airline that flies the aircraft or an aircraft fact.
  3. Type a manufacturer or model and choose it from the list to guess.
  4. After a miss, pick another clue for free; extra clues cost an attempt.
  5. Name the aircraft family within five attempts to keep your streak.

Tips

  • Airlines with small fleets are the strongest clues, since few types fit them.
  • Engine count and wing position quickly split Airbus and Boeing families from regional jets.
  • Name only the family: every 737 variant counts as Boeing 737.
