Every day: A new dated car each day in Classic mode and a dated Quick round of cars against the clock, the same for everyone; the dailies from the past two weeks stay playable. New puzzle: 01:00 UTC; the page counts down to the next daily at 1 a.m. UTC.

CarGuesser shows photos of a car and asks you to name its brand, model and year. In Classic mode you have unlimited attempts and score more the fewer you need. Quick mode gives you 60 seconds to name as many cars as you can, with five seconds lost for each wrong guess.

About CarGuesser

CarGuesser is a daily car identification game. Each date has its own puzzle, shown with the day's date at the top, and a calendar lets you go back to the dailies of the past two weeks. The site is made by mmmintdesign and says it runs without ads, supported by tips.

Classic mode is about one car. You see its photos, which start out grainy and filtered, and you guess the brand, then the model and the year. Attempts are unlimited, but the score out of 1,000 drops with every attempt you need, so a quick eye for a grille or a tail light pays off. Earlier guesses stay listed under the picture.

Quick mode is a race through several cars. The timer starts at 60 seconds and each wrong guess costs five, so it rewards fast recognition over careful elimination. Both modes give a share card with your score, and the home page keeps your streak. The site notes that its data comes from US sources, so some model names follow American market naming.

How to play CarGuesser

  1. Pick Classic mode or Quick mode for the day.
  2. In Classic, study the car's photos and guess its brand.
  3. Then name the model and the year; fewer attempts score more points.
  4. In Quick, name as many cars as you can in 60 seconds; each miss costs five seconds.
  5. Share your score and come back for the next daily.

Tips

  • Model names follow the US market, so a car sold under another name elsewhere may be listed by its American name.
  • Use the dailies from the past two weeks to practise on cars you missed.
