A Pipcross Classic daily board: an empty 4x4 grid of dice squares with pip run clues and a pool of dice below

Pipcross is a daily dice nonogram from Puzzmallow. You place dice from a pool into a grid so that their pips form the pattern described by nonogram-style run clues on each row and column. A new numbered puzzle comes out every day, in a small Mini, a 4x4 Classic and a Spin version where some dice can be turned.

About Pipcross

Pipcross is one of the daily puzzles on Puzzmallow, the site behind Terraformation, Buzzled and Wordspan. It mixes a nonogram with dice: the clue numbers beside each row and column list the runs of consecutive pips in that line, in order, and runs can continue across neighbouring dice. Your job is to place every die from the pool into the grid so all the clues are met.

You tap a die to select it and tap a square to place it, or tap a placed die to send it back. A line's clue turns green when it matches and red when the line is full but wrong. You can also mark single cells as possible pips or as empty to track your reasoning. A Spin mode lets you rotate the 2, 3 and 6 dice by 90 degrees, adding the question of which way each one faces.

Each day brings a numbered Classic puzzle on a 4x4 board of dice squares, with a smaller Mini (the nine-dice version described on the site) and the Spin variant beside it. A timer runs while you play and can be hidden, and there are undo and reset buttons. The site keeps your stats.

It suits nonogram fans who want a short twist on the format.

How to play Pipcross

  1. Open Pipcross on puzzmallow.com.
  2. Read the clues: each number is a run of consecutive pips in that row or column.
  3. Tap a die in the pool, then tap a grid square to place it; tap again to remove.
  4. Place all nine dice so every clue turns green.
  5. Switch between Mini, Classic and Spin at the bottom of the page for the other daily boards.

Tips

  • Start with lines whose clue is one long run: few dice combinations can make it.
  • Remember runs can cross from one die into the next.
  • Mark cells you know are empty to rule out dice faces quickly.
