Bells & Whistles (Puzzmallow)
Fill a grid with bells and whistles: row clues count the bells, column clues the whistles.
Every day: A numbered daily bells-and-whistles grid in Mini, Classic and Large sizes, the same for every player that day. New puzzle: Once a day; the site does not state the time.

Bells & Whistles is Puzzmallow's daily twist on the nonogram. Every cell holds either a bell or a whistle; the numbers beside each row give its groups of bells in order, and the numbers above each column give its groups of whistles. A new numbered puzzle comes each day in three sizes, with a timer and undo.
About Bells & Whistles (Puzzmallow)
Bells & Whistles is one of the daily games on Puzzmallow, a small site of logic and word puzzles. It takes the idea of a nonogram (or picross) and gives it two symbols instead of filled and empty squares: every cell in the grid ends up holding either a bell or a whistle.
The clues are split between them. The numbers beside each row describe that row's bells, as groups in order, so '3 1' means a run of three bells and later a single bell, with whistles between them. The numbers above each column describe that column's whistles in the same way. Since a cell that is not a bell must be a whistle, every deduction in a row feeds straight into a column and back again.
Each day brings a numbered puzzle (Classic Daily #469 fell on 2 October 2026) in three sizes: Mini, Classic and Large. Clicking a cell cycles through bell, whistle and empty, and right-clicking goes the other way; a row or column turns green when it matches its clue, and clicking a clue fills that line's empty cells with the opposite symbol. There is a timer you can hide, plus Undo and Reset.
The puzzles are free with ads. A paid Puzzmallow membership removes ads and opens an archive of past puzzles and extra modes across the site's games. It suits nonogram players who want a fresh angle and anyone who likes a short daily grid.
How to play Bells & Whistles (Puzzmallow)
- Open Bells & Whistles on Puzzmallow and pick Mini, Classic or Large.
- Read the row clues: they give the groups of bells in that row, in order.
- Read the column clues: they give the groups of whistles in that column.
- Click a cell to place a bell, click again for a whistle, a third time to clear (right-click runs the other way).
- Fill every cell so all rows and columns turn green.
Tips
- Start with rows or columns whose clues add up close to the grid width; overlaps fix cells right away.
- Every cell that cannot be a bell is a whistle, so use row results to work the column clues.
- Once a line matches its clue, click the clue to fill the remaining cells with the other symbol.
- Try Mini first to get used to reading two kinds of clues.
