Jihanki Classic Daily #8: a 4x4 vending machine of yen-priced bays with two pre-stocked, the restock crate of branded products, five placement rules, the Classic and Mini switch and the How To Play gu

Jihanki is a daily logic puzzle from Puzzmallow, named after the Japanese word for vending machine. You fill a 4x4 machine of priced bays with branded vegetables so that every brand and every product type appears once in each row and column, and a list of clues about prices and positions holds.

About Jihanki (Puzzmallow)

Jihanki is a daily logic puzzle on Puzzmallow, the site behind Crossflip, Quickflip, Pipcross and Terraformation. It began in late September 2026, and each day's Classic puzzle is numbered. Jihanki is Japanese for vending machine, and the job is to restock one.

The Classic machine has sixteen bays in a 4x4 grid, each with a price label in yen. Every product in the restock crate pairs one of four brands with one of four product types, and every pairing appears exactly once. Two rules hold every day: each brand appears once in every row and column, and so does each type. On top of that come the day's extra rules, such as one product being limited to bays of 220 yen or more, two brands never sitting side by side, or one bay being left of another in a given row. A few bays start stocked and cannot be changed.

You tap a product in the crate to pick it up and tap an empty bay to load it. Each bay shows small icons of every brand and type, which you cross out or highlight as you rule options in or out, much like pencil marks in sudoku. Undo and Reset are there, and a timer is optional. Every puzzle has one solution reachable by logic alone, and a 3x3 Mini puzzle each day makes an easier start.

It suits players who like logic grid puzzles and sudoku variants and want something that combines the two in a few minutes.

How to play Jihanki (Puzzmallow)

  1. Choose Classic (4x4) or Mini (3x3) for today's puzzle.
  2. Read the placement rules: each brand and each product type once per row and column, plus the day's extra rules.
  3. Tap a product in the restock crate, then tap an empty bay to load it.
  4. Cross out or highlight the small icons in each bay to keep track of what can go there.
  5. Fill every bay so all the rules hold.

Tips

  • Start with clues about the most or least expensive bay in a row or column; prices narrow them to one bay.
  • Treat brands and products as two separate sudoku-style grids and solve them side by side.
  • Cross out options as soon as a clue rules them out, before placing anything.
