Buzzled is a daily hexagon logic puzzle from Puzzmallow. Each row has a pin with a target sum and a colour, and you colour the numbered hexes yellow or black until every row adds up. Mini, Classic and Expert step up in difficulty, and Master drops the numbers altogether.

About Buzzled

Buzzled is one of the daily puzzles on Puzzmallow, a site run by a small team of two in the UK who design all their games themselves. The board is a honeycomb of hexes, most of them carrying a small number, and each row has a pin. Each pin has a target number and a colour, yellow or black, and the hexes of that colour in its row have to add up to exactly that target.

Every day there is a new numbered puzzle in four sizes, the same for everyone: Mini to warm up, Classic, Expert, and Master, where the numbers are gone and the pins count hexes instead of adding them. You click a hex to colour it, right click to cycle the other way, and a pin gets a green border when its row is right. Clicking a solved pin fills the rest of its row with the other colour, which saves time on large boards. A timer runs, and undo and reset are there if a line of reasoning goes wrong.

Because each hex sits on several rows at once, every choice has to satisfy more than one pin, which gives it the feel of a kakuro or kakurasu on a hex grid. It suits players who like number logic puzzles and want a choice of size depending on how much time they have.

How to play Buzzled

  1. Pick a difficulty: Mini, Classic, Expert or Master.
  2. Click a hex to turn it yellow or black (right click cycles the other way).
  3. Make the hexes of the pin's colour in each row add up to the pin's target.
  4. A solved row's pin gets a green border; click it to fill the row's remaining hexes with the other colour.
  5. Finish when every row is solved.

Tips

  • Start with pins whose target is very small or very large: they often force the whole row.
  • Remember each hex lies on more than one row, so check every pin that crosses it before you colour.
  • Once a pin turns green, click it to fill the rest of its row with the other colour.
  • In Master the pins count hexes rather than summing numbers.
  • Warm up on Mini before trying Expert.

Four: Mini, Classic, Expert and Master.

What is different about Master?
