Nonograms.games is a free nonogram site with an original daily puzzle. Free play, themed collections, lessons and printable worksheets sit beside the daily.

About Nonograms.games

Nonograms.games is built around one dated puzzle a day, labelled Today's little mystery, with its size and a mood such as A gentle start or A little focus. The puzzles are nonograms, also called picross or griddlers: each row and column has number clues saying how many runs of filled squares it holds, and filling the grid correctly reveals a small picture.

The controls are simple. You tap or drag to fill squares, switch to Mark to put an X on squares you know are empty, and have Undo, Hint and Reset buttons and a timer. There are no lives to lose and no hurry; the site's own tip is to start with the longest clue, since a clue as long as the line fills it completely. Your solved puzzles and daily visits are counted and saved on your device.

Beyond the daily, Free play lets you solve more at your own pace, themed collections such as Into the woods and Small wonders offer free previews, and there are step-by-step lessons, videos, a tool for drawing your own picture puzzle and printable worksheets with answer keys. It needs no account or download, and suits both newcomers to nonograms and regulars who want a short daily grid.

How to play Nonograms.games

  1. Open the Daily puzzle tab to see today's grid with its row and column clues.
  2. Read each clue as the lengths of the runs of filled squares in that line, in order.
  3. Tap or drag to fill squares you are sure of; switch to Mark to put an X on squares that must stay empty.
  4. Use the crossings of rows and columns to deduce more squares, with Hint if you get stuck.
  5. Finish the grid to reveal the picture.

Tips

  • Start with the longest clues: a clue as long as its line fills the whole line.
  • For a clue longer than half the line, the middle squares are always filled.
  • Mark empty squares with X as you go; they are as useful as filled ones.
  • Work back and forth between rows and columns, since each new square helps the lines that cross it.
