About Mowkoban

Mowkoban sets out one lawn a day, dated at the top of the screen. The board is a small grid of grass with a red mower in one corner, grey rocks and brown fences that block movement, and yellow patches of tall grass. Moving onto regular grass mows it; tall grass takes two passes. The aim is to mow the whole lawn as efficiently as possible.

You move with the arrow keys or the on-screen arrows, and a counter shows your moves and the time. The difficulty is in routing: fences cut the lawn into lanes, rocks force detours, and the tall grass means you must cross some squares twice, so a careless path wastes moves going back over cut grass. The name nods to Sokoban, the classic grid puzzle.

There is one scored attempt per day, with a leaderboard, stats, an archive of past lawns and an optional account. A short tutorial explains the rules, and the next lawn comes at midnight Central Time. It suits players who like short, tidy route puzzles.

How to play Mowkoban

1. Press Start, or play the tutorial first.
2. Move the mower with the arrow keys or the on-screen arrows; moving onto grass mows it.
3. Steer around rocks and fences, which block your way.
4. Pass over tall grass twice to cut it.
5. Mow every patch in as few moves as you can; your one scored attempt goes on the leaderboard.

Tips

• Look over the whole lawn before the first move: fences split it into lanes you must enter and leave.
• Plan the tall grass so the second pass falls on your way somewhere else.
• Corners and dead ends behind rocks are best mowed early or last, so you do not have to come back.
• Use the archive to practise on past lawns before the scored daily.
