MirrorMirror

MirrorMirror's daily board: a five by five grid with the Runner figure, the mirror Reflection, a star goal, a moon goal and four dark wall squares, a par of 12 and arrow buttons below

MirrorMirror is a daily grid puzzle. You steer a Runner with the arrow keys while its Reflection moves as its mirror image, and both must end on their own goals, a star for the Runner and a moon for the Reflection, with walls in the way. Each day's board has a par number of moves to beat.

About MirrorMirror

MirrorMirror gives you one small grid a day, five by five on the day seen here, with a Runner, a Reflection, two goals and a few wall squares. Every move you make with the Runner is copied by the Reflection as a mirror image, so the two figures move in step but not in the same direction. The puzzle is to find a sequence of moves that brings the Runner onto the star and the Reflection onto the moon at the same time.

Walls block the way, so the route has to work for both figures at once. The board shows your move count beside the day's par, which was 12 on the day seen here, and a reset button sits among the arrow controls.

A countdown under the title shows when the next puzzle arrives, at midnight UTC, and a Previous games button opens the archive of earlier boards. The game runs in the browser with arrow buttons on screen, needs no account, and suits players who like short spatial puzzles with a move count to beat.

How to play MirrorMirror

  1. Find the Runner and its goal, the star, and the Reflection and its goal, the moon.
  2. Press an arrow to move the Runner; the Reflection moves at the same time as its mirror image.
  3. Get both figures onto their goals, trying to match or beat the par number of moves.
  4. Open Previous games to play earlier boards, or press the reset button between the arrows to start again.

Tips

  • Work out first which direction the Reflection mirrors before planning a route.
  • Look at how the wall squares sit relative to both figures: a route that is clear for the Runner may be blocked for the Reflection.
  • Plan the last few moves backwards from the goals: both figures must arrive together.
  • Count your moves against the par before committing to a long route.
