About Metal Gear Dle

Metal Gear Dle is a fan-made daily game dressed as a codec screen from the Metal Gear series. Each day, dated on the screen, it hides one character from the games, the same for everyone. You type a character's name and send the transmission, and a row in your guess history compares them with the answer on six columns: gender, affiliation, nationality, first game, era and role. Cells show as correct, partial or incorrect, and arrows say higher or lower where an order applies, such as the era.

The codec panel holds an optional extra clue, the day's codec frequency. The game asks first-time visitors whether they want it shown, so it never spoils the day by default, and the choice can be changed with a toggle. The top of the page shows how many players have already found today's character and names yesterday's answer, and a share button posts your result.

A new character unlocks at 6:00 AM Paris time. Streaks are kept on your device, there is a public chat and a suggestion box, and tips go only toward hosting. Its maker has posted that the game will go offline on 24 March 2027 because the hosting can no longer be paid for.

How to play Metal Gear Dle

1. Choose whether to show the optional codec frequency hint.
2. Type the name of a Metal Gear character in the input box and send it.
3. Read the row in your guess history: gender, affiliation, nationality, first game, era and role show as correct, partial or incorrect, with higher or lower arrows where they apply.
4. Use those clues to narrow the field and guess again until you find the day's character.

Tips

• Open with a character from the middle of the timeline so the era arrow points you either way.
• Affiliation and first game split the roster fastest, so pick early guesses that differ on both.
• Leave the codec hint hidden for a harder game, and turn it on only if you are stuck.
• Check the role list in the history header: it shows every role the answer could have.
