Kesto is a daily logic puzzle with one rule: when you swipe, every box slides together. Each day brings one hand-made grid, the same for all players, where you have to steer a coloured shape onto its target outline around fixed obstacles in as few moves as possible.
About Kesto
Kesto is a small daily puzzle game by Hsingchien Cheng, available in the browser and as free apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. Its tagline is simple rules, brutal difficulty, and each puzzle is designed by hand.
The board is a grid with a coloured shape made of boxes, a matching outline somewhere else on the grid and grey blocks in the way. You swipe in one of four directions and every movable box slides together, so the shape can break against obstacles and has to be guided back into form. The goal is to fill the outline exactly, and a counter keeps track of your moves.
One new puzzle is released each day, the same for everyone, labelled with its date. Undo and hints help when you are stuck, a countdown shows when the next puzzle arrives, and the Time Machine lets you go back and play any earlier day. You can share your result with friends after solving.
It suits players who enjoy sliding-block and ice-puzzle style logic, and who are happy to spend a few minutes thinking before they move.
How to play Kesto
- Open the day's Kesto puzzle.
- Find the coloured shape and its target outline on the grid.
- Swipe up, down, left or right; every box slides together until it hits something.
- Use the grey blocks and walls to reshape and steer the boxes.
- Fill the outline exactly to solve the puzzle, in as few moves as you can.
Tips
- Plan a few swipes ahead; a single move shifts every box at once.
- Use walls and grey blocks to hold some boxes in place while others keep moving.
- If a line of play goes wrong, undo rather than starting over.
