Fall down the day's shared shaft and skim past obstacles to multiply your score.

Every day: One shaft a day, generated from the date so it is the same for everyone. You get three attempts at it; your best score goes on a global daily leaderboard and onto a result card you can paste anywhere. Practice runs on random shafts are unlimited and do not count. New puzzle: Midnight UTC.

Daily Descent during a practice run: a glowing cyan orb falling between dark blocks in the Shallow zone, score 312 and depth 298 m at the top

Daily Descent is a one-thumb falling game: you drag to steer an orb down a shaft full of blocks. Everyone gets the same shaft each day and three attempts at it, and the score is depth times a multiplier you only earn by grazing obstacles without touching them.

About Daily Descent

Daily Descent, by Graze Games, is a short arcade game played with a single drag. Your orb falls down a vertical shaft and you steer it left and right between blocks and narrow gaps. Touching anything ends the run, and runs last somewhere between half a minute and a minute and a half.

The daily run is the heart of it. The shaft is generated from the day's number, counted in UTC, so every player sees the same layout until midnight UTC. You have three attempts at it, and your best one is posted to a global daily leaderboard under one name per player. After the run the game builds a result card to paste into a chat.

Scoring rewards risk. Your score is depth times a multiplier, and the multiplier rises only when you graze an obstacle, passing within a hair of it without contact. The streak decays quickly, so a safe run scores at x1 while a run that shaves past blocks can reach x5. Your personal best is drawn in the shaft as a line you watch coming.

The shaft passes through five zones, Shallow, The Thicket, Ember Field, Crimson and The Void, each with its own colours. Ten cosmetic orbs unlock as you play and never change how a run plays. A practice mode gives a different shaft each time, as often as you like, without using an attempt. There is no account and no download, and it works offline once loaded.

Tips

  • Warm up in Practice first: it costs no attempts and the controls are the same.
  • The multiplier decays fast, so chain grazes close together rather than taking one big risk and then playing safe.
  • The shaft is the same on all three daily attempts, so use the first one to learn where the tight gaps are.
  • Your personal best line in the shaft shows when you are on pace to beat it.
