Cardinal daily puzzles on Puzzleship

Cardinal lays out a row of face-down playing cards and gives statements about their ranks, suits and positions. Some clues pin a card down; others are looser. Only one arrangement satisfies them all.

About Cardinal (Puzzleship)

Each card in the row needs two facts proved about it: its rank and its suit. Under each position sit two sets of chips, one for ranks and one for suits; you cross chips out and lock them in, and a card turns face up when both are locked. Chips that become impossible are crossed out for you.

The wording carries detail. Face cards count as 11, 12 and 13 when a clue talks about odd or even. Rows longer than four cards must repeat a suit, and a clue saying the club means there is exactly one club. The ends of the row resolve most easily, because a neighbour clue there can only point one way.

Puzzleship publishes six rows of Cardinal a day, graded from very easy to ultra hard. Each day's rows are numbered and dated, the same for every player, and appear at midnight in your own time zone; earlier days stay playable in the archive. The site is free with ads, and a premium plan removes them.

How to play Cardinal (Puzzleship)

  1. Open Cardinal and pick one of the day's six rows.
  2. Read every clue before marking anything.
  3. Tap a chip once to cross it out, again to lock it in, again to clear it.
  4. Lock both a rank and a suit to turn a card face up.
  5. Finish when every card in the row is identified.

Tips

  • Track rank and suit separately; most clues touch only one.
  • Denials are as useful as placements on a short row.
  • Resolve the end positions first.
  • Watch the wording: the club means exactly one club.
