Get the Picture (AFI)
Name the film from a single still, picked from five titles.
Every day: One film still a day, the same for every player: pick which film it comes from out of five titles, then see what share of players got it right. New puzzle: Once a day; the site does not state the time.

Get the Picture is the American Film Institute's daily movie game. Each day it shows one image from a film and five possible titles, and you pick the one it comes from. Afterwards you see how many players got the picture and a little about the film.
About Get the Picture (AFI)
Get the Picture is a daily guessing game run by the American Film Institute as part of its AFI Movie Club. Each day there is one still from a film and a short list of five titles, and you choose the film you think it comes from. The page shows what share of players got that day's picture right, and after your guess you learn more about the film.
The films lean towards the classics AFI is known for, though not only those: one day's choices included Rear Window, Harvey and Bell, Book and Candle. With a single image and a single guess, it takes a minute, and the challenge is knowing older films well enough to recognise them from one frame.
The game keeps a streak of days in a row you guessed right. It tracks that on your device, or across devices if you make a free AFI account, which also lets AFI email you the daily image. Previous days' pictures can be played from the archive, though a correct guess on an old game counts towards your total and not your streak.
It is free and suits anyone who likes old Hollywood and wants a short daily film question rather than a long puzzle.
How to play Get the Picture (AFI)
- Open Get the Picture on afi.com and look at the day's image.
- Read the five film titles offered.
- Select the title you think the image comes from and submit your guess.
- See whether you were right, what share of players got it, and more about the film.
- Use the previous games link to play images from earlier days.
Tips
- Look at the costumes, set and film stock for the decade before you pick a title.
- Several choices are often from the same era or star, so look for a detail that only fits one of them.
- Make a free account if you play on more than one device, so your streak follows you.
