About ZKPuzzle

ZKPuzzle, from Medici Collective Co, first came to the App Store in January 2024 and is also on Google Play. It calls itself a daily puzzle, group chat and rewards app: the puzzles are the reason to open it each morning, and the rest is built around them.

Each day brings a fresh numbered set of more than ten small games. The store pictures show Mystery City as the day's featured puzzle, with Wordle, Sudoku, Queens, Pips, Zip and Tiles among the others, so a day mixes a word guess with several logic grids of the kind LinkedIn and the New York Times have made popular.

The social side is a group chat with end-to-end encrypted messages, where your crew sees one another's scores on a daily leaderboard. Playing and keeping a streak earn points, which shops in the app turn into gift cards and giveaway entries (Chipotle, Uniqlo, Amazon and Uber are named). There are no ads; the app also offers referrals, walking rewards through Apple Health and a Puzzle Pro tier.

It suits a group of friends who already trade puzzle scores in a chat and would like the games, the scores and the chat in one place. Players who want only the puzzles may find the rewards and shops get in the way.

How to play ZKPuzzle

1. Open the app in the morning to find the day's numbered puzzle set.
2. Start with the featured puzzle, such as Mystery City, or pick any game from the grid.
3. Solve each puzzle; your score and time go to the daily leaderboard.
4. Compare results with friends in your group chat.
5. Keep your streak going to collect points toward rewards.

Tips

• Set up a group with the friends you already share scores with: the daily leaderboard is only as good as your crew.
• The logic grids (Queens, Zip, Pips) have one answer each, so work them by elimination rather than guessing.
• A daily streak counts for more points than a single fast solve.
