Zellige daily puzzle, a 12x12 Suguru grid of coloured tile blocks with digits 1 to 5, a 6-day streak badge and Undo, Erase and Notes buttons

Zellige is a Suguru puzzle app for iPhone and Android, the puzzle also known as Tectonic in France and the Netherlands. The grid is split into irregular blocks of coloured tiles, and you fill each block with digits from 1 up to its size so that no two touching cells match. The daily puzzle is an expert 12x12 that is the same for everyone, with a streak and a Game Center leaderboard.

About Zellige — Suguru Logic Puzzle

There are three rules. A block of N cells holds the digits 1 to N once each, so a one-cell block is always 1. No two touching cells carry the same digit, diagonals included, so each cell has up to eight neighbours to check. And every grid has exactly one solution that reasoning alone will reach. Every puzzle is generated on the phone and checked by a solver before you see it, and its difficulty is graded by the reasoning it needs rather than by the number of empty cells.

The Daily puzzle on the home screen is a 12x12 expert grid, identical for all players. Finishing it extends your streak, and your time goes on the day's Game Center leaderboard. Outside the daily, a level path starts with five 5x5 grids and moves through 6x6, 7x8, 9x9 and 10x10 to endless 12x12 grids from level 60, with the share of given digits easing down as you improve. Notes, undo that keeps your notes, optional mistake highlighting and pinch to zoom help on the larger grids. A hint reveals a cell in exchange for coins earned by playing or by watching a video.

Zellige is made by Nicolas Zanette under the AppCraft31 name and came to the App Store in September 2026. It is free with ads, plays offline and needs no account. The tiles are drawn by hand in blue, terracotta, sage and ochre, there are light and dark themes, and the whole grid works with VoiceOver.

Tips

  • Start with one-cell blocks, which are always 1, and two-cell blocks, which must be 1 and 2.
  • A digit placed in a cell rules out that digit in all eight surrounding cells, which often settles a neighbouring block.
  • When a block has one candidate left for a digit, place it even if the rest of the block is open.
  • Pinch to zoom on the 12x12 daily so you tap the cell you mean.
