Yagura daily board for 2026-08-17 in City view, with six towers of heights 2 to 5 standing on a 5x5 grid, clues on the edges and height buttons below

Yagura is a daily Skyscrapers puzzle for iPhone. You fill a grid with tower heights so no height repeats in a row or column, while the numbers round the edge say how many towers you would see looking down each street. There is one board a day, the same for everyone worldwide, and you can play it flat or as a 3D city.

About Yagura: Daily Logic Puzzle

A taller tower hides every shorter one behind it, so an edge clue of 1 means the tallest tower stands right at that end of the street, and a high clue means the towers rise in steps. You tap a plot and then a height, with a row of buttons showing how many of each height are left, and there are pencil marks, an eraser and undo. Every board has exactly one solution and can be reasoned through without guessing.

The Grid and City toggle switches between a flat grid and an isometric city with the clues painted on the streets. Both views take input, towers grow as you place them, and you can drag to orbit the city. The daily board is generated on your phone from the date, so it works offline with no account. The timer starts on your first move and stops when the last tower lands, and your time goes to that day's Game Center leaderboard. The home screen shows your streak, best time, number of boards solved and a countdown to the next board.

Yagura is made by Francisco Martinez, a one-person studio in Valencia, Spain, trading as Horchata Studio, and came to the App Store in August 2026. The daily is free with no ads. A one-time purchase called Tenshu opens the archive back to day one, boards of your own from 4x4 to 8x8, and every colour palette. The tutorial is two real boards, and VoiceOver support is written by hand.

How to play Yagura: Daily Logic Puzzle

  1. Open the Daily board from the home screen.
  2. Read the clues round the edge: each says how many towers you see looking down that row or column.
  3. Tap a plot and choose a height; no height may repeat in a row or column.
  4. Use pencil marks for possible heights and switch to City view to check what each street can see.
  5. Fill the grid to stop the clock and post your time to the day's leaderboard.

Tips

  • A clue of 1 means the tallest tower sits right next to it.
  • A clue equal to the grid size means that street climbs one step at a time from shortest to tallest.
  • Read opposite clues together: with a 1 at one end and a 2 at the other, the tallest tower sits at the 1 end and the first tower from the 2 end must be the second tallest.
  • The timer starts on your first move, not when the board opens, so read the clues before you tap.
