Towers is the free daily skyscrapers puzzle from Mind Loft. Every row and column holds each tower height once, and the numbers around the edge say how many towers you can see looking in from there, since taller towers hide shorter ones. 5x5 on weekdays and 7x7 on Sundays.

About Towers (Mind Loft)

Towers is the skyscrapers puzzle on Mind Loft, a free site of daily browser games. You fill a grid with tower heights so that every row and every column holds each height once, like a sudoku with no boxes. On weekdays the grid is 5x5 and the heights run from 1 to 5.

The clues sit outside the grid. Each printed number counts how many towers you can see looking along that row or column from that side, because a taller tower hides every shorter one behind it. There is no arithmetic, only lines of sight. A clue of 1 means the tallest tower stands right at that edge, and a clue equal to the grid size means the whole line rises in order away from you.

Every board has a single solution reachable by logic, with no guessing. A clean solve scores 10, and the leaderboard is decided on the clock.

A new board goes up at midnight US Eastern Time. Weekday boards print fewer clues as the week goes on, and the Sunday Edition is 7x7. Towers runs with Mind Loft's sudoku family, next to Sando (sandwich) and Polka (kropki), which also use clues on the borders.

Tips

  • A clue of 1 puts the tallest tower next to that edge.
  • A clue equal to the grid size means the line runs 1, 2, 3 and up from that side.
  • Opposite clues that add up to one more than the grid size often pin the tallest tower's position.
  • Place the tallest towers first in every row and column; they decide what the clues can see.
