Every day: One heap of about eighty letter tiles a day, the same for every player, posted in r/WordQuarry; your best score of the day goes on a daily leaderboard, and the day's rarest and highest-scoring words are shown once it closes. New puzzle: Midnight UTC (00:00 UTC), when the next day's post appears.

Word Quarry is a daily word game played inside Reddit, in the r/WordQuarry community. Each day everyone gets the same heap of about eighty layered letter tiles; you spell English words from the tiles that are free, and each word clears its tiles and uncovers the ones below. Your best score of the day is ranked on a leaderboard, and the rarest finds are revealed after the day closes.
About Word Quarry
Word Quarry is a Reddit game made with Reddit's developer platform by the creator ndrsxyz, played in its own community, r/WordQuarry. At 00:00 UTC each day a new post appears with that day's board, and tapping it opens the game.
The board is a heap of about eighty letter tiles stacked in layers. A tile can be picked only when nothing lies on it and one of its sides is clear. You pick free tiles in order to spell an English word and submit it; the tiles leave the heap and free the ones underneath. Each tile carries a point value, and longer words earn a bonus. A run ends when you press Finish or clear the whole heap.
You can dig the day's heap as often as you like and only your best score counts on the leaderboard. Nobody sees anyone else's words while the day is open; about fifteen minutes after it closes, the rarest, longest and most valuable finds are listed with how many players found each.
A calendar keeps the last 90 days, and keys earned by playing open past boards to replay, unranked.
How to play Word Quarry
- Open the day's post in r/WordQuarry and tap it to start the game.
- Pick free tiles, ones with nothing on top and a clear side, in order to spell an English word.
- Submit the word: its tiles leave the heap and the tiles beneath become free.
- Keep spelling words to dig deeper, favouring long words and rare letters for points.
- Press Finish when you are done; your best run of the day is ranked.
