About Sneakle

Sneakle was built with GameMaker's Reddit export for Reddit's Daily Games Hackathon in early 2026, where it was among the winners, and it plays inside a Reddit post. Its maker describes it as Boggle meets Battleship: you spell words from a grid of letters as in Boggle or Squaredle, but the aim is to locate a single hidden word, as you would a ship.

Every day at noon UTC a new numbered post, the Daily Sneakle, appears in r/Sneakle with that day's grid. You swipe across neighbouring letters in any direction to spell a guess. The board then lights the letters that are in the secret word and darkens those that are not, so each guess rules out part of the grid. The secret word is always at least five letters long and is never a proper noun or a plural. Your number of guesses and your time go on the day's leaderboard.

Besides the daily puzzle there is an unlimited mode for practice, and players post their own custom Sneakles in the subreddit, so there is usually more to play once the daily is done. Stats are kept per player and per puzzle.

It suits players who like Wordle's deduction but would rather search a board than type into empty rows, and anyone who already plays Squaredle or Strands.

How to play Sneakle

1. Open today's Daily Sneakle post in r/Sneakle, in a browser or the Reddit app.
2. Swipe across neighbouring letters in any direction to spell a guess.
3. Read the board: letters in the secret word are marked, letters not in it are crossed out.
4. Use what is left to trace the secret word, at least five letters long, and swipe it to win.
5. Compare your guesses and time with others on the daily leaderboard.

Tips

• Start with a long guess that crosses many different letters, so one swipe tests a large part of the board.
• Once a letter is crossed out, ignore every path through it.
• The secret word is never a plural, so a path that can only end in S is a poor bet.
• Use the hint button sparingly if you are playing for the leaderboard.
