Guess The Secret Word is a numbered daily puzzle from the makers of Guess The Game. You trace words through neighbouring letters on a 5x5 grid, and each word tells you which of its letters belong to the hidden secret word.

About Guess The Secret Word

Guess The Secret Word is one of the daily web puzzles from the team behind Guess The Game, alongside sites such as Guess The Phrase and Guess The Angle. Each day brings one numbered board, the same for every player, and a countdown shows when the next one arrives.

The board is a 5x5 grid of letters. You trace words by joining adjacent tiles, and after each word the letters are marked: green letters are part of the secret word and red ones are not. Bit by bit you narrow down which tiles make up the secret path, then trace the secret word itself to finish.

A timer runs while you play. If you are stuck, a hint reveals one tile of the secret word at a cost of 30 seconds, up to three times a day, and a colour-blind palette marks correct and partial tiles with symbols.

It is a free, ad-supported site that suits players of Boggle-style grids and Strands who want a deduction twist on top of finding words.

How to play Guess The Secret Word

  1. Open the site to get today's numbered board.
  2. Trace a word by joining adjacent letters on the 5x5 grid.
  3. Read the feedback: green letters belong to the secret word, red letters do not.
  4. Use what you learn to trace more words and narrow down the secret path.
  5. Trace the secret word to solve the puzzle and stop the timer.

Tips

  • Start with words that cover many different tiles to learn the most from each guess.
  • Once a tile is red, avoid it and build words through the unknown tiles instead.
  • Save hints for the end, since each one adds 30 seconds.
