Guess The Phrase
Unpick nested clues to reveal the day's hidden phrase.
Every day: One numbered phrase a day, the same for everyone, hidden behind nested clues: solve the bracketed clues inside it to reveal its letters and work out the whole phrase. New puzzle: Once a day; a countdown on the page shows the time until the next puzzle.

Guess The Phrase is a daily puzzle from the makers of Guess The Game. The day's phrase is written as a chain of bracketed clues, some nested inside others; each one you solve fills in letters, until you can name the phrase. Your daily streak builds a rank from Phrase Novice upward.
About Guess The Phrase
Guess The Phrase is a daily word puzzle from GuessThe.Game, the team behind a family of daily guessing sites. Each day there is one numbered phrase, the same for everyone, but you do not see it directly: it is written as a chain of bracketed clues, with clues nested inside other clues.
You solve it from the inside out. The innermost green brackets are the simplest clues; answer one and its letters drop into the clue around it, which in turn becomes solvable, until the whole phrase is revealed. For example a clue might read as not challenging crossed with a homophone of a Greek letter, which unwinds step by step into a real phrase. You can type an answer or click a bracket to solve it, and the blue text around each green clue gives the context you need. A timer starts when you press start, so part of the challenge is how fast you can unravel it.
The game tracks your daily streak and turns it into a rank that climbs from Phrase Novice upward, and it can sync stats if you make an account. It is free with ads, and a paid membership removes the ads and adds extras. It sits beside sister games such as Guess The Game, Guess The Logo and Guess The Book.
It suits people who enjoy cryptic, layered wordplay and the satisfaction of a clue cascade, and anyone who likes a quick timed daily to go with their other word games.
How to play Guess The Phrase
- Open Guess The Phrase and press Start Puzzle to begin the day's phrase and start the timer.
- Look for the innermost green brackets, the simplest clues, and solve those first.
- Type an answer or click a bracket; a solved clue fills its letters into the clue around it.
- Use the blue context text around each clue to work out the next layer.
- Keep unwinding the nested clues until the whole phrase is revealed, then check your time and streak.
Tips
- Always work from the inside out: the outer clues only make sense once the inner ones are solved.
- Read the blue context carefully, since it often tells you the kind of answer (a homophone, an opposite, a synonym).
- If you are sure of the final phrase, typing it can auto-solve the clues that lead to it.
- Keep a daily streak going to climb the ranks from Phrase Novice upward.
