Letteracy
Rate itBuild words on a grid from a pyramid of letter tiles, scored by how many tiles each touches.
Every day: A seeded daily game, the same for everyone, in which you build words on a grid from a pyramid of letter tiles for points; an evening game runs beside it. New puzzle: Once a day (exact hour not stated).

Letteracy is a daily word-building game from Skill Explosion. You start from a letter on a grid and place words across or down using the tiles in a small pyramid: a top tile, vowels in the middle and consonants below. Using tiles brings new letters, and each tile scores by how many tiles it touches.
About Letteracy
Letteracy gives everyone the same daily game, built from a seed, on a grid with one starting letter in the middle. Your letters sit in a pyramid under the board: a single top tile, two vowels in the middle row and three consonants at the bottom. You tap a square to set where a word starts, tap the arrow to switch between across and down, spell a word with your tiles and submit it.
Using tiles refills the pyramid by rule. Playing the top tile brings new vowels and consonants, using both vowels brings new vowels, and using all the consonants brings new consonants, so the order you play letters shapes what you get next. Scoring is by contact: any tile is worth the number of tiles touching it, bonus tiles multiply that, and playing five or six tiles in one turn adds 10 or 20 points. Once you have played all the top tiles you can choose to end the game.
Beside the daily game there is an evening game, and the site tracks streaks and rewards. It is free in the browser. It suits players who like Scrabble-style building but want a puzzle that changes as they play.
How to play Letteracy
- Tap a square next to the letters on the grid and tap the arrow to choose across or down.
- Spell a word with tiles from your pyramid: one top tile, two vowels and three consonants.
- Submit the word; each tile scores the number of tiles touching it.
- Watch your pyramid refill: the top tile brings new vowels and consonants, the vowels bring vowels, the consonants bring consonants.
- Play all the top tiles to unlock the option to end the game.
Tips
- Place words where they touch many existing tiles, since contact is what scores.
- Aim for five or six tiles in one turn for the 10 or 20 point bonus.
- Use up all three consonants when you want a fresh set of them.
- Put bonus tiles where they will touch the most letters.
