Tvers is NRK's daily mini word game. Each day the letters of two Norwegian words that share a middle letter lie at the bottom of the screen, and you drag them into the cross-shaped board as fast as you can; every second and every misplaced letter costs points, and you get one go a day.

About Tvers (NRK)

Tvers (across) is a small daily word game from NRK, the Norwegian public broadcaster, made by a team in its games section. Every day it picks two words at random that share the same middle letter and lays them out as a cross; the letters lie shuffled underneath, and you drag each one onto a square.

A letter that lands in the right place turns white and locks; one in the wrong place turns red. Scoring is simple: you start with 3,000 points, lose one for every second that passes and 200 for every misplaced letter. Sometimes the letters could make more than one word and you have to guess which one is meant, but everyone has the same two answer words. The game can also be played fully from the keyboard.

You can play each day's board only once, and a countdown shows when the next cross arrives, at midnight Norwegian time. Log in with an NRK account to appear on the day's results list and keep your winning streak across devices; when you finish, you can share an image of your result.

It suits Norwegian speakers who want a one-minute word sprint, and it sits beside NRK's other daily games such as Former.

How to play Tvers (NRK)

  1. Open Tvers on nrk.no/spill and start today's board.
  2. Look at the empty cross and the shuffled letters at the bottom.
  3. Drag a letter onto a square: white means right and locked, red means wrong.
  4. Fill both words, which share the middle square, as fast as you can.
  5. See your score (3,000 minus time and mistakes) and share it; log in to join the results list.

Tips

  • Find the shared middle letter first: it must belong to both words.
  • Place letters only when you are sure, since a wrong one costs as much as 200 seconds of play.
  • Think in common Norwegian word endings such as -er, -en and -ing to place the last letters quickly.
