Swahili Word League sets four words a day: one in Sheng, the Nairobi street slang, one in Swahili, one tied to East African culture, and a bonus word. Each comes with a clue, and you have six tries per word, with streaks, XP and leaderboards to keep you coming back.

About Swahili Word League

Swahili Word League is a Kenyan daily word game on Quirklog. Its Cheza (play) tab holds four puzzles each day, the same for every player: a Sheng word, a Swahili word, a Culture word drawn from East African traditions, food and everyday life, and a Bonus word with the same rules. The day rolls over at midnight East Africa Time.

Each word is shown with a dokezo, the Sheng and Swahili word for a hint. You type a guess and the board marks your letters, Wordle-style, and you have six tries; miss and the game tells you Jaribu tena kesho, try again tomorrow. A second hint that reveals a correct letter is free; further hints cost the game's cowrie currency.

Around the puzzles sits a full league: Moto counts your daily streak, XP sets your Cheo (rank) on the Ubao leaderboard by week, month or all time, you can join a squad, and a weekly draw pays small KES prizes to players who keep their streak going. A separate Mazoezi mode offers endless letter-wheel levels for practice, outside the daily reset.

The interface is sprinkled with Swahili and comes with a glossary, so it suits Kenyan players, Swahili learners and anyone curious about Sheng.

How to play Swahili Word League

  1. Open Swahili Word League and go to the Cheza tab.
  2. Pick one of the day's four words: Sheng, Swahili, Culture or Bonus.
  3. Read the dokezo (clue) and type a guess.
  4. Use the letter colours to refine your next guess; you have six tries.
  5. Solve all four, then check Matokeo for your results and Ubao for the leaderboard.

Tips

  • Sheng often borrows from English and Swahili, so try both roots.
  • Take the free second hint before spending cowrie: it shows a correct letter.
  • Play every day to keep your Moto streak, which also counts toward the weekly draw.
