TileEcho card: a 5 by 5 grid of black tiles with some lit blue and orange, beside the title and the line How much can you hold in one glance

TileEcho is a daily visual memory game. A few tiles light up on a 5 by 5 grid for just over a second, the board goes blank, and you tap the same tiles back. Six rounds a day, the same for everyone, with three lives and a shareable result.

About TileEcho

TileEcho is a short browser game about spatial recall. Each round lights a handful of tiles on a 5 by 5 grid for a little over a second. Then the board clears and you rebuild the pattern by tapping the tiles you saw. You can only select as many tiles as the pattern used, so every tap counts.

The daily run has six rounds, and the patterns grow as you go. You have three lives across the run. The daily is numbered and built from the current UTC date, so everyone who plays on a given day gets the same six patterns, and the result card lets you compare runs with friends without giving the patterns away.

A Practice mode gives fresh patterns whenever you want them, so you can warm up before the daily. Your streak, best score and count of perfect rounds are kept in your browser; there is no account and nothing to download. It works with touch, mouse and keyboard.

It suits players who like a quick test of attention over a word or number puzzle: one round takes seconds and the whole daily about a minute.

How to play TileEcho

  1. Open TileEcho and press Start today's echo.
  2. Watch the grid: a few tiles light up for just over a second.
  3. When the board clears, tap the same tiles you saw. You can pick only as many as were lit.
  4. Get through six rounds as the patterns grow, without losing all three lives.
  5. Share your result card and come back tomorrow for the next numbered daily.

Tips

  • Look at the whole board at once rather than following single tiles.
  • Give the pattern a shape name, such as a hook, a stair or a letter; a shape is easier to hold than separate squares.
  • Note which tiles touch the corners or edges first, then fill in toward the middle.
  • Use Practice mode to settle on one scanning order before you play the daily.
