Three Magic Words
Fill three five-letter words from a shared set of tiles, with a challenge that gets harder each day of the week.
Every day: One challenge per weekday plus a weekend challenge, numbered by week, with difficulty rising from Monday to the weekend. The last few challenges stay playable. New puzzle: Once a day (a new weekday challenge, with one challenge covering the weekend).

Three Magic Words gives you three partly filled five-letter words and a handful of letter tiles. Place the tiles so all three words are complete, collecting stars along the way. The web edition has a numbered weekly set of challenges, one per day, that starts easy on Monday and ends with a hard weekend puzzle.
About Three Magic Words
Three Magic Words is a word puzzle for the web, iPhone, iPad and Mac. Each round shows three rows of five slots, some already holding letters, and a tray of loose tiles below. Your job is to drop the right tiles into the right slots so that every row spells a real five-letter word.
The game is made by Nathan Lamont, who released the App Store version at the end of 2021. The web edition at threemagicwords.app/play is marked as a beta and runs the daily challenges in the browser.
The daily schedule follows the week. Challenges are numbered by week, and each weekday has its own puzzle: Monday uses easy words with plenty of clues, the middle of the week brings harder words and fewer clues, and the weekend challenge has hard words and no clues at all. The page lists today's challenge along with the previous five, so you can catch up on a day you missed or warm up on an easier one first.
What sets it apart is that you are not guessing a hidden word; all the letters are in front of you, and the puzzle is fitting them so three words work at once. Stars that sit on certain slots reward placing the right letter quickly. It suits players who like anagrams and short logic puzzles more than guessing games.
How to play Three Magic Words
- Open the web edition and pick today's challenge, or an easier day from the list.
- Look at the three rows: some letters are already placed and the dots are empty slots.
- Drag a tile from the tray into an empty slot.
- Keep placing tiles until all three rows spell real five-letter words.
- Grab a star slot with the right letter before its timer runs out to collect it.
Tips
- Start with the row that has the most letters already placed; it usually has only one or two possible words.
- Count the vowels in the tray and decide early which row needs them.
- If the day is too hard, play the earlier days of the week first, since they use easier words and more clues.
