Three Letters Game gives you three letters per round and asks for a word that starts with the first and has the second before the third. Words score like Scrabble, rounds get shorter, and you have three lives. The first game of the day uses the same letters for everyone, so scores can be compared on daily tables.

About Three Letters Game

Three Letters Game is a browser word game played against the clock. Each round shows three letters, and you have to type a valid word that begins with the first letter and contains the second letter somewhere before the third. With B, D and R you could play BIDDERS, but not BORDERING, because the R has to come after the D.

The first game you play each day uses Today's Letters, which are the same for every player in that language and run from local midnight to midnight. After that first game you can keep playing random letters; on your first day that is free, and after that a small monthly fee unlocks unlimited extra games. The daily game itself stays free and needs no account, although you can pick a username to appear on the score tables.

A game goes in rounds. The first round lasts 60 seconds and the time drops until every round is 30 seconds. Letters score as in Scrabble, coloured squares add double or triple letter and word bonuses, blank tiles stand in for any letter at no score, and a 15-letter word earns a 50 point bonus. Miss a round and you lose one of your three lives.

At the end you see your score, the round you reached and your best word, rated out of five bananas, plus better answers you could have played. Daily and all-time tables, medals, friends lists and a list of the day's trickiest rounds make it a good fit for players who like Scrabble-style vocabulary hunting under time pressure.

Tips

  • Longer words with high-value letters score far more than quick safe answers, but only if you submit them in time.
  • Common endings such as -ERS, -ING and -ATION help stretch a word once the three letters are placed.
  • The answers screen lists better words for each round, which is a good way to learn patterns for next time.
