Expandagram
Rate itTurn three letters into as many words as you can in one minute, keeping the letters in order.
Every day: A numbered, dated Dailygram: the same three-letter GRAM for every player, played against a one-minute clock. New puzzle: Once a day; the page does not say at what hour.

Expandagram is a free one-minute word game in the browser. You get a GRAM of three letters, such as W R D, and type words that contain those letters in that order, like WORDPLAY, REWARDS or WORDSMITHS. The numbered Dailygram gives everyone the same GRAM each day, and Free Play deals new ones without limit.
About Expandagram
Expandagram started as a car game its maker invented more than 20 years ago; the creator, who has spent 16 years teaching in special education, turned it into a web game. The idea fits on one line: expand a GRAM to make words, with its letters kept in order.
A GRAM is three letters. Any word that holds those letters in the same order counts, with other letters before, between or after them, so W R D gives WORDPLAY, REWARDS and WORDSMITHS. A game lasts one minute, each word can be used once, longer words earn bonus points, and a Shuffle GRAM button helps you see the letters fresh.
The Dailygram is numbered and dated, the same GRAM for everyone, with no spoilers when you share it, and you can challenge a friend to the day's GRAM. Free Play offers unlimited new GRAMs. The maker lists plans for an untimed mode, more ways to play with friends and a larger dictionary.
How to play Expandagram
- Open Expandagram and press Play today's Dailygram.
- Look at the three letters of the GRAM.
- Type words that contain those letters in the same order, with any letters around and between them.
- Find as many as you can before the one-minute clock runs out; longer words score bonus points.
- Challenge a friend to the same Dailygram, or try Free Play for more GRAMs.
Tips
- Try common prefixes and suffixes around the GRAM, such as RE- or -S, for quick extra words.
- Go for one or two long words early: they earn bonus points.
- If you stall, press Shuffle GRAM to look at the letters differently.
