Enspelled How to play panel: the letters NLIGHEMET used by NAIL and HIGHER, or all at once by ENLIGHTENMENT

Enspelled gives you one string of letters a day, such as NLIGHEMET, and asks you to use as many of them as you can, in order, inside up to three words. Each word you play greys out the letters it used, and it is sometimes possible to use them all in a single word: NLIGHEMET hides inside ENLIGHTENMENT.

About Enspelled

Enspelled is a short daily word puzzle. The puzzle letters appear in a row, and you type words that contain them in the same order, with any other letters you like in between. From NLIGHEMET, for example, NAIL uses the N and L, then HIGHER uses I, G, H and E, leaving M, E and T for a third word. Used letters turn grey, and you may play up to three words.

The aim is to use as many puzzle letters as possible, and each word is coloured by how many letters it used, so the colour sequence of your share shows how you did. The best result is to cover the whole string in one word.

The day's letters come from a random generator seeded with the date, and the game says a new Enspelled appears every day at 5 PM your time. Statistics track games played, win rate and streaks, and a Freeplay mode offers more puzzles. It suits players who like spotting long words and thinking about letter order.

How to play Enspelled

  1. Read the day's string of puzzle letters.
  2. Type a word that contains some of the letters in the same order; other letters can go in between.
  3. Submit it: the letters it used turn grey.
  4. Use up to three words to cover as many of the puzzle letters as possible.
  5. Share your coloured result; try to do it all in one word.

Tips

  • Look for a single long word first; the puzzles are often built around one.
  • Prefixes and suffixes like EN-, -MENT and -TION swallow letters quickly.
  • Use early words on the awkward start of the string and save easy letters for the end.
  • Try Freeplay to practise spotting hidden subsequences.
