The Vault
Rate itCrack the day's five-symbol vault code in six tries.
Every day: One numbered vault a day for the whole world, locked with a five-symbol code that follows a meaningful order, with its own theme and par; it opens at midnight on your device's date. New puzzle: Midnight local time (the game uses your device's date).

The Vault is a daily code-breaking game. Each numbered vault is locked with five picture symbols in an order that means something, and you have six tries with Wordle-style colour feedback to crack it. Cracking it adds the day's treasure to a weekly themed set.
About The Vault
The Vault looks like Mastermind with emoji. Each day's vault has a name and a theme, such as The Poison Conservatory on vault #85, and a keyboard of themed symbols: spiders, mushrooms, a skull, a drop of blood. Five of them make the code; the rest are decoys. You fill five slots, try the code, and each slot comes back green for the right symbol in the right place, amber for a symbol that belongs elsewhere, or grey for a decoy.
What sets it apart from a plain code breaker is that a vault code is never random. The game says it is always a sequence with one defensible order, like the stages of a process or the ranks of a set; recent vaults included From new member to champion and The ABO blood group. So you can grind the logic from the feedback, or spot the idea behind the symbols and jump ahead. Each vault has a par: the number of tries a solver needs on that keyboard.
Vaults run Monday to Sunday as a themed heist of seven treasures, with the crown piece on Sunday; crack a vault and its treasure joins your museum, miss it and it stays a silhouette. There is no account, and progress is kept in your browser. Past vaults cannot be replayed, but the archive explains each answer once the day has ended everywhere. Ads appear only on the results screen. The game can be played in English, German, French, Italian and Dutch.
How to play The Vault
- Open vault.day and press Play today's vault.
- Tap five symbols from the keyboard to fill the slots, then press Try the code.
- Read the colours: green is the right symbol in the right slot, amber is in the code but elsewhere, grey is a decoy.
- Use the theme and the feedback to work out the order the code follows.
- Crack it within six tries to add the day's treasure to your weekly set.

Tips
- Look at the vault's title and its symbols first: the code is an ordered sequence that fits the theme.
- Use your first two guesses to test different symbols, so the colours tell you which ones belong.
- Grey symbols are greyed out on the keyboard; never spend a slot on them again.
- Compare your number of tries with the vault's par to see whether you read the pattern or ground it out.
