Everyone guesses at once, one guess per hour, with hints opening at 6, 12 and 18 hours; the first right answer goes into the Hall of Fame and the answer is shown when the next sound starts. The Sound is a daily guess-the-sound game by Audio Noord. Each day one short clip of an everyday sound goes up for everyone at once; you get one guess an hour from a list of words, and the first player to name it goes into the Hall of Fame.
About The Sound
The Sound puts up one mystery sound a day, a clip a few seconds long, and the whole world guesses at the same time. You can play it as often as you like and tap the wave to jump around in it. The answer is an everyday thing: the round before this writing was a cassette deck.
You may send one guess every hour, and only words from the game's list count. Every guess, right or wrong, shows up in a live feed with the player's nickname and country, so the wrong answers already tried are clues too. You pick a nickname only when you send your first guess.
Hints open as the round gets older. After 6 hours you learn the category, such as Kitchen. After 12 hours a cleaner version of the clip unlocks beside the rough one. After 18 hours the first letter is shown. The first right answer goes into the Hall of Fame, and everyone else can keep guessing until the reset.
A new sound starts at midnight Amsterdam time, and at that moment the answer to the last one is revealed with how many players got it and from how many countries. The game is free, with no account, no ads and no tracking cookies, and your streak and best time stay in your browser.
How to play The Sound

- Type your guess; only words from the list count, and you pick a nickname with your first guess.
- Wait an hour between guesses and read the live feed of wrong answers others have tried.
