Tenkt's daily set for Day 230: Balance and Placement solved, Pathfinder next, then Placement, Grid, Area and a Balance 8x8 centrepiece

Tenkt is an iPhone app with a daily set of logic puzzles drawn from seven types, among them a queens-style placement grid, a sun and moon balance grid, sudoku, a numbered path and colour pairs. Everyone gets the same set on the same day, from an easy opener to the day's centrepiece. Your times go on an anonymous daily leaderboard.

About Tenkt

Tenkt, Norwegian for thought, is a set of short logic puzzles to work through each morning. The day's screen is a numbered list, Day 230 for example, with five to eight puzzles that rise from an easy opener to a larger centrepiece, such as an 8x8 Balance. Solving some of them holds your streak; the app tells you how many more you need.

There are seven puzzle types. Placement puts one diamond in every row, column and colour zone with no two touching, like Queens. Balance fills a grid with suns and moons in equal numbers, never three alike in a row. Grid is sudoku. Pathfinder draws one path through every open cell, meeting the numbers in order. Flow connects colour pairs and fills the board without crossing. Area divides the board into rectangles that each hold one number equal to their size. Pattern is the odd one out: you see a target arrangement of coloured rings on pegs and must reach it in as few moves as possible, one ring at a time.

Every board has exactly one solution, checked before you see it, and for Pattern the shortest route is proved instead. The boards are generated on your device from the date, so everyone opening Tenkt that day gets exactly the same set, and the maker's site says it renews at midnight. Beyond the daily there is Marathon, one timed attempt a day where puzzles get harder until the clock runs out, and Training, with any type and difficulty and no clock.

Tenkt is made by Jonas Haug of the Norwegian studio Haug & Datter and came out in May 2026. It is free and every puzzle is free; optional purchases remove the ads or speed up earning traces, the in-app currency for extra hints, undo, streak freezes and themes. The leaderboard is anonymous, with no account. It works offline. It suits players who like Queens, Tango and Zip and want several of them in one daily set.

How to play Tenkt

  1. Open Tenkt to see today's numbered set and the first puzzle.
  2. Tap Start on the next puzzle; each type shows its rules above the board.
  3. Solve the puzzles in order, from the easy opener towards the day's centrepiece.
  4. Finish enough of them to hold your streak and see your time against everyone else who played today.
  5. Try Marathon for one timed run a day, or Training for untimed practice.

Tips

  • In Placement, a colour zone that fits in a single row or column decides where that row's diamond goes.
  • In Balance, two equal symbols side by side force the opposite symbol on both ends.
  • In Pathfinder and Flow, fill corners and dead ends first: the line has only one way through them.
  • In Pattern, plan which ring has to go down first; the shortest route usually clears one peg completely.
