Squares
Trace words through a 4x4 grid of letters until you have found every target word.
Every day: A new numbered 4x4 letter grid (plus a 3x3 mini) each day, the same for everyone, with a set list of words to find. New puzzle: Once a day (local midnight).

Squares is a free daily word hunt. You swipe across neighbouring letters in a small grid to spell words, filling in a list of target words grouped by length, with bonus words for extra points.
About Squares
Squares is a daily word game played on squares.org and in apps for iPhone and Android from Appercat. Each day brings a new numbered puzzle: a 4x4 grid of letters in the classic mode and a smaller 3x3 grid in the mini mode, the same for everyone.
You spell words by swiping or tapping across letters that touch, including diagonally. The side panel shows how many words of each length you still need, from four letters up to one long word that often uses most of the grid. Finding the target words fills a score bar towards five stars; rarer words count as bonus words and add extra points.
If you stall there are a few hints, and the rotate buttons turn the grid so you see the letters from a fresh angle. Results can be shared, and stats and streaks are kept on your device without an account. An archive lets you go back to puzzles you missed.
It sits between Boggle and a word search: the grid is small, but finding the long word usually takes some thought. It suits players who like Squaredle-style tracing and want a short puzzle with a clear finish line each day.
How to play Squares
- Look at the 4x4 grid (or the 3x3 mini) and the list of word lengths to find.
- Swipe or tap through touching letters to spell a word, diagonals included.
- Fill every target word slot to complete the puzzle and earn stars.
- Look for rarer bonus words for extra points, and use a hint if you get stuck.

Tips
- Rotate the grid when you are stuck: new angles reveal words you missed.
- Hunt for common endings like -ING, -ED and -ER, which unlock several words at once.
- Look for the longest word early, since it often uses letters that block shorter ones.
