Shogi365
A shogi checkmate problem a day, the same for everyone, played out move by move on the board.
Every day: One tsume shogi problem a day, the same for everyone in the world: find the forced checkmate in shogi. Solving it grows your streak and earns a hint. New puzzle: Once a day (the listing does not state the time).

Shogi365 is an iPhone app of tsume shogi, checkmate problems in Japanese chess. It holds 4,000 problems from mate in 3 to mate in 9, and a daily challenge gives everyone in the world the same problem each day. You play the moves yourself and the defending king answers.
About Shogi365
Tsume shogi are shogi problems in which the attacker must checkmate the king with a series of checks. Shogi365 has 4,000 of them, a thousand each at mate in 3, 5, 7 and 9 moves, labelled Easy, Medium, Hard and Expert. The maker says every problem is checked to have a unique first move, no alternative solutions and no idle attacking pieces.
You do not just pick an answer. Any check may be played, right or wrong, and the defending king replies on its own, so you test your reading as in a real game. Moves that are not checks are refused. If the line runs out of moves without mate, the attempt fails and you can retry up to three times.
The daily challenge is one problem a day, the same for everyone in the world. Solving it grows your streak, the home screen shows your last seven days, and each daily solve earns a hint. A hint lights up the piece to move and its destination, but you still make the move.
The app keeps stats per difficulty, lets you show pieces with one or two kanji, has light and dark themes with a wooden board, and works offline. All problems are free; ads are light and a one-time purchase removes them. Shogi365 is made by StudyX and came out in September 2026, with its interface in many languages.
How to play Shogi365

Tips
- Every move must be a check, so list all checks first and test the forcing ones.
- Dropping a piece from hand is often the key first move.
- Sacrifices are common in tsume shogi: a piece given up can pull the king into a mating net.
- Work up from mate in 3 problems to learn the common mating patterns before the harder levels.
