SHITle
Rate itTurn the day's four-letter word into SHIT, one letter at a time.
Every day: One new starting word a day, the same for every player, to be turned into SHIT in as few one-letter moves as you can, with par set by the shortest route. New puzzle: Midnight UTC (00:00 UTC by the device's date).

SHITle is a free browser word ladder with one fixed destination: SHIT. Each day brings a new four-letter starting word, and you change one letter per move, always making a real English word, until you reach the target. Par is the shortest route in the game's word list, so the challenge is matching it.
About SHITle
SHITle is a word ladder played in the browser. The finish line never changes: every puzzle ends on the word SHIT, and it stays on screen the whole time. What changes each day is the starting word, the same for everyone, and with it the route you have to find.
A move changes exactly one letter while the other three stay where they are, and the result has to be a four-letter word in the game's reviewed English list of about 2,100 words, which takes in everyday slang, plurals and inflections but leaves out names and initialisms. The game's own example goes from BOOK through BOOT, SOOT and SHOT to SHIT in four moves. Rejected entries cost nothing, and there is no timer or move limit, so the only score is your move count against par, the length of the shortest route.
Undo takes back one move and Reset starts the same ladder again. Once you have finished, the game can reveal a shortest route, and your first finish for that UTC date is the one kept in your statistics. A Practice mode gives extra puzzles beyond the daily one, and a share button posts your move count as a tile pattern without your words, so friends can look for their own route.
The game needs no account or payment and shows no ads; progress and stats are kept in your browser on that device. It suits players who like Weaver-style ladders and do not mind a rude punchline as the target.
How to play SHITle
- Read the day's starting word shown above the board, next to the target SHIT.
- Type a four-letter word that changes exactly one letter of the current word, using your keyboard or the on-screen keys, and press Enter.
- Build each next move from your last accepted word; letters keep their positions, so swapping two letters does not count.
- Keep going until you reach SHIT, then compare your move count with par and share your result if you like.

Tips
- Work backward from SHIT as well: words one step away, such as SHOT, SHUT, SLIT or WHIT, are useful last rungs.
- A letter that already matches SHIT can be changed for a while if it opens a better route.
- If a branch goes nowhere, use Undo rather than Reset so you keep the moves that were working.
- Try a vowel swap or a new first letter when you are stuck; these often connect to a whole new group of words.
Questions
What time does SHITle reset?
A new starting word arrives at 00:00 UTC, going by your device's date, so local midnight may be a different time.
Do I need an account to play SHITle?
No. It is free, needs no sign-up and has no ads. Your progress and stats are stored in your browser on that device, with no sync between devices.
Can I play more than one puzzle a day?
Yes. Practice mode gives extra ladders beyond the daily one, which is the same for every player.
Does sharing my result give away the answer?
No. The shared result shows your move count as a tile pattern and leaves out your words and the day's starting word.
