Reciprocal
Rate itSee 1/A as a decimal, then guess A, five times a day.
Every day: Five rounds a day seeded by the UTC date, the same for every player: each shows the reciprocal of a hidden number and you have 20 seconds to name the number. New puzzle: Midnight UTC.

Reciprocal is a quick mental math game: it shows the reciprocal of a hidden number as a long decimal and you type your estimate of the number, between 1 and 100. The daily mode gives everyone the same five rounds, each on a 20-second timer, scored out of 5000 with a letter rank.
About Reciprocal
Reciprocal, whose page is titled Inverse, tests one specific skill: turning a decimal back into the number it is one over. Each round shows the A⁻¹ value, such as 0.8370659, and you enter your guess for A on a number pad. Your answer is checked against the real value and scored for accuracy, up to 1000 points a round.
The daily mode uses the UTC date as its seed, so every player sees the same five numbers that day. Each round runs on a 20-second timer, shown as a bar across the top. At the end you get a total out of 5000, a letter rank and a row of coloured squares you can share. The game keeps a streak, your best score and a history of past dailies in your browser.
A practice mode deals unlimited rounds for warming up. The look is spare, in a monospaced font on a dark background, and it works with the on-screen pad or a keyboard. It suits players who like number sense and quick estimation more than puzzles with one exact answer.
How to play Reciprocal
- Open the game and choose Daily Mode.
- Read the A⁻¹ value: the reciprocal of a hidden number between 1 and 100.
- Work out roughly what number it is one over, and type your guess before the 20-second timer ends.
- Press Submit to see the answer and your accuracy for the round.
- Play all five rounds, then share your score out of 5000 and your rank.
Tips
- Learn a few anchors: 0.5 is 2, 0.25 is 4, 0.1 is 10, 0.05 is 20, 0.02 is 50, 0.01 is 100.
- For values above 0.5, the answer is between 1 and 2: 1 divided by 0.8 is 1.25.
- Decimals are allowed, so type a decimal guess when the answer is small.
- Use Practice mode to build speed before the daily.
