Rally Sleuth Daily #10 (Cruise): the lap-by-position grid with five racers on the starting grid and a few placed, beside the Stewards' notes

Rally Sleuth is a free daily logic puzzle about a cartoon motor race. Each day's board shows the starting grid of racers and a few places already known; from the Stewards' notes you work out every racer's position on every lap and the order they cross the flag. Races get harder through the week, from a Monday warm-up to weekend photo finishes.

About Rally Sleuth

Rally Sleuth, also billed as The Rattletrap Rally, is a logic puzzle set in a cartoon motor race. Its cast includes Baron Von Teacup, Grumbles, Granny Nitro, Chef Dumpling, Sly Sackett and Bolt-9000. It is made by Transcendant, an Australian studio, with Scott Taylor named as author, and the daily race was numbered from 28 September 2026.

The board is a grid: race positions run across the top, with 1st leading, and the laps run down the side from the GRID to the FLAG. The starting order is filled in and a few racers are already placed on later laps. The Stewards' notes on the clipboard give the rest, for example that Chef swaps three times (three laps where his place changes by one, every other lap the same place) or that Bolt gains two places. You place racers in the empty bays until every lap is filled and every note fits, which settles the finishing order.

Each day has one numbered race for everyone, with a difficulty set by the day of the week: a warm-up on Monday, Cruise races on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sprints on Thursday and Friday, and Photo finishes on Saturday and Sunday. A timer runs while you play, and Undo, Rub out, Restart and a Clue button help when you are stuck. Solved races add a painting to your postcards, and a trophy cabinet, a weekly strip and a streak track your progress.

New players can take a practice lap in which Monty shows each move step by step in about three minutes. The daily race is free with no account or download; the makers also sell Volume One, a printed season of a hundred more races. It suits players who like deduction puzzles with a story and a bit of humour.

How to play Rally Sleuth

  1. Open rallysleuth.com/play and press Race today; first-time players can take the three-minute practice lap.
  2. Read the goal: fill in every bay so the FLAG row shows each racer's finishing place.
  3. Read the Stewards' notes, tapping any new kind of note to see what it means on the clipboard.
  4. Place racers into the empty bays lap by lap, so each lap holds every racer once and the changes match the notes.
  5. Check that every note reads as fitting, then complete the FLAG row to finish the race.

Tips

  • Start from the places already fixed on later laps and work backwards and forwards from them.
  • A racer who swaps a set number of times changes place by one on exactly that many laps and stays put on the others, so count laps carefully.
  • Notes about places gained or lost compare the grid with the flag, so use them to pin down the finishing row early.
  • When two racers trade places, both of them move on that lap; a swap for one is a swap for the other.
  • Save the Clue button for real dead ends, and play the Monday warm-up to learn new note types.
