Does Monday Work? puzzle The Deep-Sea Radio Drama with events to schedule, a May 1888 calendar and rule panels

Does Monday Work? is a daily scheduling puzzle. Each day brings a themed month with a set of events to place on the calendar; each event has its own rules about spacing, days of the week and what must come before or after, and new events, calendar rules and disruptions appear as you go.

About Does Monday Work?

Does Monday Work? turns diary planning into a logic puzzle. Each daily puzzle is set in a named month, sometimes far in the past, with a theme and a title such as May 1888, The Deep-Sea Radio Drama. You start with a few events in a To Schedule pile and a blank calendar.

Every event has a duration and rules attached, for example that it must fall on a certain weekday, sit a set number of days after another event, or leave the following day completely free. You drag events onto dates, select one to read its rules, and adjust until everything fits. The puzzle reveals more events as you progress (11 in the 2 October puzzle), and new calendar rules and temporary disruptions can appear partway through, so an early arrangement may need rethinking.

There are hints if you get stuck, a How to play guide and an archive of earlier puzzles. A timer on the page counts down to the next puzzle, which appears at midnight US Eastern time, and you can log in with Google to keep progress.

It suits anyone who has wrestled with a shared calendar and fans of logic grid puzzles who want a more visual, hands-on format.

Tips

  • Place the most constrained events first, such as those tied to a specific weekday.
  • Watch for rules that keep the day after an event free; they block more space than they seem.
  • Leave some slack early on, because later events and disruptions add new demands.
  • Use a hint rather than shuffling everything if you are stuck near the end.
