Puzzle Math: Cross Number Game is an iPhone puzzle in the cross math style: a crossword-like grid of equations running across and down, with gaps you fill by dragging numbers from a tray. A Daily Challenge brings a new dated puzzle each day, next to unlimited games at four difficulty levels.

About Puzzle Math: Cross Number Game

Puzzle Math: Cross Number Game is made by Smartronic, a studio whose website is in Turkey, and came to the App Store in July 2024. It belongs to the cross math family of number puzzles: the grid looks like a crossword, but every line, across or down, is a short equation such as 12 + 19 = 31, and some of its numbers are missing.

Below the grid sits a tray of numbers. You drag each one into a gap, and the puzzle is done when every equation in the grid is true. Because lines cross, a number has to fit two sums at once, so the puzzle is as much about working out which gap to fill first as about the sums themselves.

The Daily Challenge gives a new puzzle for each date on a monthly calendar, with a trophy for the month you work towards. Outside the daily you can start new games at Easy, Medium, Hard or Expert, with hints, undo and statistics for both modes. The game also plays offline.

It suits players who like Nerdle or KenKen and want a gentle daily dose of arithmetic in a grid.

How to play Puzzle Math: Cross Number Game

  1. Open the Daily Challenge and pick today's date on the calendar.
  2. Look at the grid: each row and column of boxes is an equation, with some numbers missing.
  3. Drag a number from the tray at the bottom into a gap.
  4. Check both equations that pass through a gap before you place a number there.
  5. Fill every gap so that all the equations are correct to finish the day's puzzle.

Tips

  • Start with an equation that has only one gap: its missing number can be worked out directly.
  • Where two equations cross, the number must suit both, which often settles a choice between two tray numbers.
  • Use undo freely; there is no penalty for trying a number and taking it back.
