Numbword
Find the day's word whose letters, with A=1 to Z=26, add up to the target number.
Every day: One numbered hidden word a day, the same for every player: its letters, valued A=1 to Z=26, add up to a target number shown on screen, and you find it with guesses that get letter feedback. New puzzle: Once a day (the site does not state the hour).

Numbword is a daily word puzzle that mixes spelling with addition. Every letter has a value from A=1 to Z=26, and the hidden word's letters add up to the day's target. Each guess shows its own total and marks letters that are in the word, and a pressure bar shrinks the further your totals are from the target.
About Numbword
Numbword gives you a target number and a word length, for example a five-letter word, and asks you to find the hidden word whose letter values add up to that target. The keyboard shows each letter's value, and pills above your guess show the target and your running total as you type, so you can build a guess that hits the number.
After each guess, letters turn blue when they are in the word somewhere and gray when they are not, as in Wordle but without telling you the exact position. Instead of a fixed number of rows, there is a budget bar: each guess uses up room depending on how far its total is from the target, and when the bar runs out the game ends. Hints are available at a cost to your score.
The daily puzzle is numbered, the same for everyone, and shared as the day number and target without spoilers. Earlier days can be replayed from an archive, and a practice mode serves extra words. The game keeps streaks and achievements in the browser and is offered in more than one language.
How to play Numbword
- Open numbword.com and note the target total and the word length.
- Type a word, using the values on the keys to keep its total close to the target.
- Submit and read the feedback: blue letters are in the word, gray letters are not.
- Watch the budget bar; guesses far from the target use up more of it.
- Find the word before the bar runs out, then share your day number and result.
Tips
- Aim every guess at the exact target total; it saves budget and still tests letters.
- High-value letters like W, X, Y and Z change the total quickly, so use them to adjust.
- Once you know a few blue letters, work out what the remaining letters must add up to.
