Musiclues
Sort sixteen music tiles into four hidden groups of four.
Every day: One new 16-tile music board a day, the same for every player: sort artists, songs, albums and composers into four hidden groups of four, with four mistakes allowed. New puzzle: Midnight UTC, from the countdown in the game's code.

Musiclues is a daily Connections-style puzzle about music. Sixteen tiles of artists, songs, albums and composers hide four groups of four, ranked from Easy to Expert, and you have four mistakes to find them all.
About Musiclues
Musiclues is a grouping puzzle in the style of Connections, built entirely from music. Each day's board has sixteen tiles, and they can be bands, solo artists, song titles, albums or classical composers. Four of them always share something: a past board grouped albums named after the act itself, songs Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote for animated films, composers of cello concertos and artists who have won all four EGOT awards.
You select four tiles and press Submit. A right guess locks the group in its colour, which shows its difficulty from Easy to Expert; a wrong one costs one of your four mistakes. There is a shuffle button to see the tiles in a new order.
Musiclues is one of the xClues games, alongside Filmclues for films and Litclues for books, each with its own daily board. A new Musiclues puzzle arrives at midnight UTC, and the archive lists every past day with its four categories revealed, so you can play or check earlier boards.
The categories range from pop to classical, so it suits players with broad music knowledge rather than those who follow one genre.
How to play Musiclues
- Open Musiclues and look over the sixteen tiles.
- Pick four tiles you think share a connection and press Submit.
- Use Shuffle to rearrange the board if you are stuck.
- Keep finding groups until all four are solved, before you make four mistakes.
- Visit the archive to see past boards and their categories.
Tips
- Look for the tiles that could fit more than one group and leave them for last.
- Expert groups often hinge on a fact about the tile, such as an award or a title, rather than the genre.
- Classical composers and film songs turn up as well as pop, so do not assume every tile is a band.
