Links board on mindloftdaily.com: a four by four grid of words such as CHUCK, SPOOL, SKIRT, TONGUE and CRUST, with Submit four, Shuffle and four mistake dots

Links is a free daily word grouping puzzle from Mind Loft. Sixteen words hide four threads of four; find each group and bank it in its colour, from the easy yellow group to the hardest red one. Four mistakes end the game.

About Links (Mind Loft)

Links follows the familiar sixteen-word grouping format. The board shows sixteen words, and they divide into four hidden groups of four that share a connection. Select four words and submit; a correct group is banked in its colour, from the easy yellow thread to the devious red one.

Every puzzle plants words that look like they belong to one group but actually belong to another, so careful counting matters. A one away nudge tells you when three of your four are right, and that is the only help you get. Four mistakes and the board wins.

A new Links arrives every day at midnight Eastern, and the leaderboard compares your grid with other players'. Mind Loft's other word dailies include Crux, a clueless crossword, and Garble, a word scramble.

How to play Links (Mind Loft)

  1. Open Links and press Start to see the sixteen words.
  2. Select four words you think share a connection and submit them.
  3. A correct group is banked in its colour; a one away message means three of the four are right.
  4. Find all four groups before you make four mistakes.

Tips

  • Look for words that could fit more than one group, and leave them until the end.
  • Count how many candidates fit a theme; if more than four do, one of them belongs elsewhere.
  • Solve the group you are surest of first to shrink the board.
