The KPopdle wordmark with a heart-shaped lightstick and a row of coloured squares

KPopdle is a daily K-pop guessing game in the style of the attribute -dles. You name a group or idol, and each attribute, such as the company or the debut year, is marked as a match, a partial match, higher or lower. Easy, Medium and Hard set how many guesses you get and how well known the answer is.

About KPopdle

KPopdle is a free browser game about K-pop acts, made by Pandarr and published with its source on GitHub. Its facts come from Wikidata and Wikipedia, and players can report wrong data through the project's GitHub page. It runs in English, Korean and Japanese and keeps everything in the browser, with no account.

You choose whether to guess a group or an idol, and a difficulty. Each guess is a row of attributes compared with the hidden answer. For groups these are the debut year, the generation, the company, the member count, the gender, whether the group is active and the country; for idols the birth year, debut year, generation, main group, gender, nationality and company. A tick means a match, a half mark means a near match such as a label under the same parent company, and arrows tell you whether the answer's number is higher or lower. Easy gives 6 guesses and only the best known acts, Medium 8, and Hard 10 with a much wider pool.

The daily answers are shared by everyone and change at midnight UTC. Hints reveal one attribute of the answer for a cost in points, and a detective setting hides names in the search list that the clues already rule out. Endless mode gives unlimited practice rounds, the archive keeps the last 14 days, and stats and achievements are stored on your device with an export option.

Unlike Spotle, which hides any music artist and compares genre and popularity, KPopdle stays inside K-pop and goes as far as companies and generations. It suits fans who follow the industry closely, and the easy level is a gentle start for newer listeners.

How to play KPopdle

  1. Pick Group or Idol, then Easy, Medium or Hard, and keep the mode on Daily.
  2. Type a name and choose it from the list to make a guess.
  3. Read each attribute: a tick is a match, a half mark is close, an arrow points toward the answer's number, a cross is wrong.
  4. Use the clues to narrow down the next guess, or spend points on a hint to reveal one attribute.
  5. Solve it within 6, 8 or 10 guesses, then try the other entity or difficulty.

Tips

  • Start with an act from the middle generation: the debut year and generation arrows then cut the field in half.
  • A half mark on company usually means a sub-label of the same parent agency, so try that agency's other acts.
  • Turn on detective mode in settings to hide names the clues have already ruled out.
  • Hints get cheaper the more you have guessed, so save them for the end.
