Kodiak Sudoku is a free, ad-free sudoku site built for the keyboard. Each day brings a dated daily puzzle at Easy, Medium and Hard, the same for every player, with a global leaderboard, and interactive lessons teach the solving techniques. You can play anonymously or sign in to keep a streak.

About Kodiak Sudoku

Kodiak Sudoku puts the classic 9x9 puzzle in the browser with an emphasis on fast input. Arrow keys and vim-style bindings move around the grid, and undo, redo, notes and hints all have keys, so you can solve without touching the mouse.

The Daily page holds a dated puzzle at three levels, Easy, Medium and Hard, and everyone gets the same grids that day. Times go on a global leaderboard, and earlier days can be opened from the date bar. You can play anonymously or sign in to track your streak and add friends.

A Learn section walks through solving techniques interactively, and there is a quick-play mode and a box to paste in a puzzle of your own. The site carries no ads; a Plus tier sits beside the free game. It suits sudoku players who like to solve quickly and those who want to learn the next technique.

How to play Kodiak Sudoku

  1. Open the Daily page and choose Easy, Medium or Hard.
  2. Fill each empty square so every row, column and 3x3 box holds 1 to 9.
  3. Move with the arrow keys and type digits; use notes for candidates.
  4. Use a hint or a lesson from Learn if you are stuck.
  5. Finish to post your time on the daily leaderboard.

Tips

  • Learn the keyboard shortcuts: solving without the mouse is much faster.
