Jumblie gives you a theme and a jumble of letters each day; exactly four words on that theme are hidden in it, using every letter once. Tap or type letters to spell a word, submit it, and find all four as fast as you can. Since October 2024 the game cycles through its first year of puzzles.

About Jumblie

Jumblie is a small daily word game by Cassidy Williams, a software engineer in Chicago, launched on 4 October 2023. In its first year it drew 800 to 1,200 players a day, and it is still played daily, though its maker has stopped writing new puzzles: since October 2024 it loops through the 365 puzzles of that first year.

Each day you get a theme and a pool of letters. Hidden in the pool are exactly four words that fit the theme, each four to nine letters long, and between them they use every letter exactly once. You click or type letters to spell a word and submit it; a right answer is coloured by its length, from red for the shortest to blue for the longest, and its letters leave the pool, which makes the rest easier to see.

The clock runs from your first move, so your score is your time. After five wrong guesses you may give up. Settings offer three difficulty levels, a dark theme, upper- or lower-case letters and a visibility assist, and an archive lets you look back at earlier themes and their words.

It suits players who like anagrams and quick sessions: most days take a minute or two, and the theme is often the key.

How to play Jumblie

  1. Read today's theme and look over the pool of letters.
  2. Click letters (or type them) to spell a word that fits the theme, then press Submit.
  3. A right word is coloured by length and its letters are taken out of the pool.
  4. Keep going until you have all four words; every letter is used exactly once.
  5. Share your solve time, or give up after five wrong guesses to see the answers.

Tips

  • Start with the longest word you can spot: removing its letters makes the short ones obvious.
  • Use Shuffle when the pool looks stuck; new neighbours suggest new words.
  • Think about the theme first and list likely words before hunting for letters.
