About Isaaconnect

Isaaconnect is a daily grouping puzzle for The Binding of Isaac, built in the style of NYT Connections. Each day's board holds 16 items from the game, and the goal is to sort them into four hidden groups of four, with each group sharing a trait.

You pick four items you think belong together and submit them. A correct group locks in; a wrong guess costs one of your four lives (shown as hearts), and four wrong groups end the game. The board is the same for everyone that day and resets at midnight UTC.

The game is credited to Démorck, from an idea by biobak, and is inspired by Only Connect and NYT Connections. Beside the daily there is a free play mode where you set your own number of groups, items and lives for extra rounds.

It suits players who know the Binding of Isaac item roster, since the links can be subtle: an item pool, a shared effect, a visual theme or a synergy rather than just the name. It runs in the browser and is free.

How to play Isaaconnect

  1. Open isaaconnect.com to see the day's 16 Binding of Isaac items in a grid.
  2. Work out which four share a trait, such as an item pool, an effect, a look or a theme.
  3. Select four items and press Submit.
  4. A correct group locks in; a wrong group costs one of your four lives.
  5. Sort all four groups before you lose four lives; a new board arrives each day, and free play lets you set your own groups, items and lives.

Tips

  • Start with the group you are surest of to thin the board and expose the harder links.
  • Watch for traps: some items look like they fit two groups, so hold the ambiguous ones until the clear groups are placed.
  • Think about item pools, effects and visual themes, not only the item names.
  • Use free play to practise the format when the daily board stumps you.
