Fourplay
Rate itTurn and place word cards so every side links to the clue beside it.
Every day: Four levels a day, the same for everyone: five cards of four words each, four clue words around the board and four tries to find the links. New puzzle: Once a day.

Fourplay is a daily word association puzzle. Four clue words sit around a two by two board, and you get five cards with a word on each side: rotate four of them into the board so every word faces a clue it belongs with. There are four levels a day and four tries at each.
About Fourplay
Fourplay works like a word association board game. Around a square board are four clue words, one on each edge, such as Cinderella, Firefighter, Dinosaur and Holiday. Inside are four empty slots, and beside the board are five cards, each carrying four words, one on each side.
The job is to place four of the five cards into the slots and turn each one so that its words line up with the clues they touch. A card in the top left corner, for instance, has one word facing the top clue and one facing the left clue, so both have to fit. With Cinderella above, Slipper and Pumpkin are obvious candidates, but only one arrangement makes every edge work, and one card is a decoy.
You press Check when the board is full and have four tries per level. There are four levels each day, numbered L1 to L4, and a countdown shows when the next set arrives.
It is played in portrait on phones and works in any browser.
How to play Fourplay
- Read the four clue words around the board.
- Pick a card and place it in one of the four slots.
- Rotate it so the words touching each clue fit that clue.
- Fill all four slots, leaving one card out, and press Check.
- Solve the level within four tries, then move on to the next of the day's four levels.
Tips
- Start with the clue that has the fewest plausible words on the cards.
- Each corner card must fit two clues at once, so look for words that suit a pair.
- Work out which card is the decoy early: it frees up the rest.
