A fanimoji board for the tarsier, with emoji picks for class, size, habitat, diet, trait, lifespan, origin and status

fanimoji is a daily animal quiz from Lost Art Games. It names one animal each day, and you have two minutes to pick the emoji that best fit it in eight categories, from its class and size to its diet, origin and conservation status.

About fanimoji

fanimoji turns animal trivia into a quick emoji test. Each day it names an animal, a tarsier one day, a sea urchin the next, and lays out eight category cards: Class, Size, Habitat, Diet, Trait, Lifespan, Origin and Status. Each card offers a row of emoji, so size might run from a microbe to an apple to a bus, and you choose the one that fits best.

You have two minutes. Each category scores up to 10 points depending on how close your pick is to the ideal answer, with green for a perfect match and yellow, orange and red for near and far misses. Time left over is a speed bonus, for a maximum of 140 points. You can peek at a picture of the animal if you do not know what it looks like, but it costs 20 seconds of bonus. The animal is the same for everyone each day, and scores go on a daily leaderboard.

fanimoji is one of six dailies from Lost Art Games, with Letterbox, Scuotes, alikely, D3C1PH3R and 29GO. It suits nature lovers and anyone who enjoys a two-minute quiz where partial knowledge still earns points.

How to play fanimoji

  1. Open the day's fanimoji to see the animal's name and start the two-minute timer.
  2. For each of the eight categories, pick the emoji that best describes the animal.
  3. Show the picture if you need it, at the cost of 20 seconds of bonus.
  4. Submit before the timer ends; each pick scores by how close it is.
  5. Compare your score on the daily leaderboard.

Tips

  • Answer the categories you are sure of first, then come back to lifespan and status.
  • A close pick still scores, so choose the nearest emoji rather than leaving one empty.
  • Only peek at the picture when you truly do not know the animal: the penalty eats a third of the speed bonus.
